Docent Tours of 221B Baker Street West

Docent Tours of 221B Baker Street West

Wonder what it would be like to view The Great Detective's flat, 221B Baker Street, from the eyes of a character in one of the stories? Your opportunity is here at Baker Street West.

  • Imagine being secretly ushered into the flat by Silas Brown, horse trainer, from The Adventure of Silver Blaze. “Secret” you ask? Well, Mr. Brown has a bone to pick with Mr. Holmes, and he does his tours on the sly.
  • Fortunate you would be to see 221B from the viewpoint of Irene Adler, “The Woman,” from the story A Scandal in Bohemia. She is proud to be the object of Mr. Holmes' admiration, as she is the only woman to “best” Sherlock Holmes.
  • Eliza Barrymore has come all the way from Baskerville Hall of Dartmoor to 221B to retell her part in this sinister story of a supernatural hound, the moor, and mayhem.
  • Miss Burnet, from The Adventure of Wisteria Lodge, will relate on her tour of 221B how she toiled undercover to trap the “Tiger of San Pedro,” a brutal dictator from Central America.
  • Examine 221B with Hilda Adair, who lost her brother by way of a murderous act perpetrated by Colonel Sebastian Moran. Her tale takes place after The Great Hiatus, when the errant Mr. Holmes returns to Baker Street and to The Adventure of The Empty House.
  • Mary Maberley is one of Mr. Holmes' newest clients.  An unknown party has asked to buy her house, The Three Gables, contents and all of her personal effects. Should she be suspicious? Perhaps you can advise her.

A donation of $5/person suggested, but please donate within your comfort level.

Kennedy Mine Tours

Kennedy Mine Tours

Every Saturday, Sunday and Holiday
March thru October
10am-3pm

During the Kennedy Gold Mine surface tour, visitors see the mine office building where gold flakes were melted into large bricks to ship by Wells Fargo stage to San Francisco. This is also where ore samples were processed to see if a particular underground area was worthy of further investigation. See the stamp and gold recovery mill, tailing wheels, a steam boiler and the huge steel head frame whose pulleys guided the miners into the bowels of the earth. You will also see the building [now a museum] where the men changed into their mining garb before dropping nearly a mile underground to work. View a historic video of the men working circa 1914, and much more. Visit the Kennedy Gold Mine and gain new insight into the complications and hardships of the miner's way of life.

FREE Admission. Guided tours are: $10.00 for ages 13 to adult, $6.00 for youngsters 6 through 12, and free to those under 6.

Group Guided tours are available, by reservation, all year. Guided Tours are recommended for an interesting, in-depth, and educational tour of the grounds [about 1.5 hours]. You may, if you wish, purchase a self-guided tour book in our gift shop and wander on your own. Some prefer to bring a picnic lunch and just soak in the ambiance of this historic spot.

Teachers and Educators, we have a special group guided tour designed for your students. http://kennedygoldmine.com/schooltours.html
