Sutter Creek International Film Festival

Sutter Creek International Film Festival

Friday - Sunday
September 28th – October 1st 2017
9:00am-11:00pm

The Sutter Creek International Film Festival returns for 2017, expanded by a day from last year. We have films from Australia, India, Iran, Italy, and Switzerland among others. Shorts, full length features, animated, and documentaries. We have discussion panels with directors and actors, an awards dinner, breakfasts with filmmakers, mixers, and much more.

The SUTTER CREEK INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (SCIFF) is located 55 minutes east of Sacramento, CA and 2 hours east of San Francisco, and 1 hour and 40 minutes from the world famous, beautiful Lake Tahoe. But once in Sutter Creek, you’ll never have to leave for excitement and adventure! Sutter Creek is surrounded by beautiful vineyards, caves and gold mines, some more than a mile underground to explore. As a premiere 4-day annual event, the SCIFF showcases cutting edge, as well as contemporary film screenings at the historic SUTTER CREEK THEATRE. You’ll love the city’s old west, historical feel and look, with a variety of unexpected venues giving you memories, you’ll be sharing for years and years to come.

SCIFF is proud to embrace the reasons Film Festivals were invented, in its meticulous programming guidelines. From cutting edge documentaries to tried-and-true indie films, SCIFF celebrates film on the ‘big screen’ by offering something for everyone. Experience HOLLYWOOD-STYLE EVENTS that pair excellent local wines with your film experience, or the RED CARPET EVENTS, where we welcome celebrities from Hollywood, filmmakers, and world known figures.

Enjoy premieres of INDEPENDENT FILMS – films that you may not have a chance to see anywhere else. Filmmakers from all over the world attend the Festival and offer an intimate, but informative Q & A sessions after the screening of their films.

We at SUTTER CREEK INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL will entertain, educate and inspire film-goers and filmmakers, from around the world.

Sutter Creek International Film Festival – where indie film matters!

Tickets are available below. We have day passes and festival passes, as well as filmmaker packages. The films are programmed into blocks of approximately 2 hours each, so a feature film will occupy one block, a “shorts program” of short films will occupy another 2 hour block. The mixers, breakfasts, and Awards Dinner tickets are listed with the films chronologically as they appear in the program schedule.

Kennedy Mine Tours

Kennedy Mine Tours

Every Saturday, Sunday and Holiday
March thru October
10am-3pm

During the Kennedy Gold Mine surface tour, visitors see the mine office building where gold flakes were melted into large bricks to ship by Wells Fargo stage to San Francisco. This is also where ore samples were processed to see if a particular underground area was worthy of further investigation. See the stamp and gold recovery mill, tailing wheels, a steam boiler and the huge steel head frame whose pulleys guided the miners into the bowels of the earth. You will also see the building [now a museum] where the men changed into their mining garb before dropping nearly a mile underground to work. View a historic video of the men working circa 1914, and much more. Visit the Kennedy Gold Mine and gain new insight into the complications and hardships of the miner's way of life.

FREE Admission. Guided tours are: $10.00 for ages 13 to adult, $6.00 for youngsters 6 through 12, and free to those under 6.

Group Guided tours are available, by reservation, all year. Guided Tours are recommended for an interesting, in-depth, and educational tour of the grounds [about 1.5 hours]. You may, if you wish, purchase a self-guided tour book in our gift shop and wander on your own. Some prefer to bring a picnic lunch and just soak in the ambiance of this historic spot.

Teachers and Educators, we have a special group guided tour designed for your students. http://kennedygoldmine.com/schooltours.html
